President Prabowo Urges State Apparatus to Reform and Eradicate Corruption
President Prabowo Subianto has issued a stern call for all state apparatus within the government, bureaucracy, ministries, and agencies to immediately reform themselves. He stressed the importance of improving the quality of public service and demonstrating a genuine commitment to eradicating corruption. The statement was made by President Prabowo during the inauguration of five dams, centred at the Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, on Friday. “To the state apparatus, to the state officials in the government, in the bureaucracy, in every ministry, in every institution, let us together reform ourselves, improve ourselves,” Prabowo said, as monitored via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube live stream. The President asserted that he does not wish to constantly look to the past. However, he firmly requested that the current government ranks be introspective and not ignore the aspirations of a public weary of deviant practices. “I do not want to look back, but I ask you to reform yourselves, be introspective, do not go against the will of the people. The people do not want corruption to be tolerated, the people do not want fraud to continue,” the Head of State stressed. Prabowo also delivered a special message to bureaucrats, military officials, police, and prosecutors. He reminded them that all their facilities, positions, and attributes are gifts from the people. “You belong to the people, your stars are from the people, your shoes are from the people, your hats are from the people. Never forget that. The same goes for the prosecutors. You are a prosecutor, right? You also wear stars. You also belong to the people,” he added. Amidst various challenges and resistance from corrupt groups, President Prabowo assured that law enforcement would proceed according to applicable procedures. He guaranteed that the law would not be sharp downwards and blunt upwards. “Sometimes when I face these corrupt thieves, it feels… but it must be according to legal procedures. We will carry it out, we will enforce the law, and the law is for everyone, not just for the strong, not just for the rich,” he concluded.
