President Prabowo Urges Public Participation in 2026 Economic Census for Accurate Budget Planning

President Prabowo Subianto has urged the Indonesian public to participate in the 2026 Economic Census. He made the appeal during a speech on the 2027 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta. The Economic Census 2026 will be carried out by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), which will deploy 251,000 field officers across all villages in Indonesia. Prabowo requested that citizens complete the census forms honestly. He assured the public that the data collected by BPS would not be used to pursue personal wealth or reported income. The President explained that data from the Economic Census would allow for more precise policymaking and budget planning. He cited the example of the 2027 State Budget Bill, where the government currently assumes a Gross Domestic Product of a certain figure. If the census reveals a larger GDP, Prabowo noted, the budget deficit would consequently be smaller.
