President Prabowo Trials Nusantara Explorer Train to Batang

President Prabowo Subianto continued his working visit in Central Java by using rail transport, opting to trial the Nusantara Explorer train to reach Batang Regency after inaugurating the revitalisation of Semarang Tawang Station on Thursday. This step was taken as a tangible form of government support for the development of the national railway industry. Furthermore, the use of the Nusantara Explorer serves as a symbol of the government’s commitment to strengthening the tourism sector through the provision of modern, comfortable, and integrated public transport.

In his remarks at Semarang Tawang Station, President Prabowo expressed his enthusiasm for the latest innovation from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI). “Today I will also try the new train launched by KAI to support and bolster tourism, named the Nusantara Explorer,” the President said. During the journey along Java’s north coast route, the President and his limited entourage were treated to typical rural scenery, from expanses of rice fields to the daily activities of residents along the tracks. The presence of this service is expected not only to improve inter-regional connectivity but also to provide a premium travel experience for tourists.

Upon arrival in Batang Regency, the President was scheduled to attend a strategic event in the housing sector. He was set to oversee a mass contract signing for 62,000 units of subsidised home ownership credit and housing microcredit worth IDR 880 billion. The activity, centred in the Puri Delta City Side Batang area, is part of the government’s priority programme, with a primary focus on expanding access to decent housing for low-income communities while strengthening national housing sector financing.
