President Prabowo Trials New Nusantara Explorer Train from Semarang to Batang

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will trial the Nusantara Explorer train from Semarang Tawang Station to Batang, Central Java, on Thursday (30/7).

“President Prabowo will board the Nusantara Explorer train to Batang for a trial run,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a post on @sekretariat.kabinet on Thursday (30/7).

Teddy said the train embodies Prabowo’s wish for KAI to offer train services that are beautiful, elegant and comfortable for the public.

Later, in Batang, Prabowo will inaugurate a mass ceremony for 62,000 subsidised mortgage (KPR Subsidi) houses, to be held at 165 locations across 372 regencies and cities in 36 provinces, with the main event centred in Batang.

Separately, in an Instagram post, KAI said the Nusantara Explorer is the result of development and modification by KAI workers, with the process centred at the Surabaya Gubeng workshop.

The sleeping cabin concept on the train is divided into three categories: Signature Class, Advanced Class and Compact Class.

KAI explained that the Nusantara Explorer was developed as a luxury sleeper train combining private rest spaces, culinary offerings, entertainment and the experience of enjoying the passing landscape.

The Nusantara Explorer is also designed with a grand restaurant and lounge.

“With a relaxed seating concept, a bar, entertainment facilities, a piano, an audio system and windows for enjoying the scenery during the journey,” KAI wrote.

The Chief Executive of PT Kereta Api Indonesia, Bobby Rasyidin, said the train’s presence is intended to deliver an even better travel experience for customers.

“The Nusantara Explorer demonstrates the capability of KAI personnel in developing rolling stock through competencies continuously built at the Surabaya Gubeng workshop,” said Bobby.
