President Prabowo to Launch National GovTech in October 2026
President Prabowo Subianto will launch a national Government Technology (GovTech) system in October 2026, according to Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Chairman of the Committee for the Acceleration of Digital Transformation. The announcement was made following a meeting on the acceleration of digitalisation for social assistance in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/6).
Luhut stated that the GovTech pilot project is currently underway in 43 regencies and cities across Indonesia. The government expects to receive a report on the results of this pilot by the end of July 2026, which will serve as evaluation material ahead of the nationwide launch.
President Prabowo has directed that digital transformation be a priority government programme. The system is designed not only to digitise public services but also to be enhanced with artificial intelligence (AI). βThe President has given direction that this is a very important programme. A digital-based government, but more advanced, supported by AI,β Luhut said.
He further explained that eight ministries and agencies have already implemented data integration processed by AI. To guarantee national data security, the government is involving the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
A key aspect of the GovTech development is the commitment to using software entirely developed by local Indonesian talent, avoiding imports to keep costs down. The plan involves consolidating approximately 27,000 existing applications across all ministries and agencies into a single digital service ecosystem.
