President Prabowo to Inaugurate Meninting Dam in West Nusa Tenggara on Friday
President Prabowo Subianto has revealed plans to conduct a working visit to inaugurate and inspect the Meninting Dam in Gunung Sari District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, on Friday (10 July). Speaking at the launch of the mandatory B50 programme at the KM 57 rest area on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, the President confirmed his travel agenda. “Tomorrow, on the 10th, I have to go to Lombok,” President Prabowo stated during the event. He made the remark while jokingly calculating dates that led to his favourite number, eight.
In a separate statement, West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal confirmed the President’s working visit to Mataram. “The President is coming to inaugurate the Meninting Dam. That is his only agenda for coming here,” the Governor said. The President will be accompanied by several ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Regarding the visit, the Head of the NTB Provincial Communication and Information Office, Ahsanul Khalik, explained that President Prabowo is scheduled to land at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport on Friday afternoon before proceeding by helicopter to the Meninting Dam site. “He will arrive at the airport and is then planned to use a helicopter to land at the helipad in Meninting. It is estimated that he will arrive at the location around 2 p.m.,” Ahsanul said.
The Meninting Dam, located in Bukti Tinggi Village, Gunung Sari District, and Dasan Geria Village, Lingsar District in West Lombok, is a national strategic project. Construction began in 2019 and was completed in 2025. The dam has a capacity of 13.14 million cubic metres and a surface area of approximately 54 hectares. It functions to provide irrigation, water storage and reserves, flood control, as well as supporting a micro-hydro power plant and a solar power plant. The dam area is now also equipped with a spillway to prevent water overflow, an intake structure, and inspection roads to support operations and maintenance.
