President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate junior officer candidates of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) in a Prasetya Perwira (Praspa) ceremony at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday morning. The solemn ceremony is planned to commence at 08:00 WIB.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the agenda at the Presidential Palace Complex on Tuesday. He stated that the President would directly lead the oath-taking procession for the officer candidates. “Tomorrow, in accordance with the agenda, the President will lead the Prasetya Perwira ceremony for the TNI and Polri at Merdeka Palace at 08:00 WIB in the morning,” Prasetyo said.

Regarding the number of participants, Prasetyo estimated that around 1,500 junior officers would be commissioned. However, the exact figure is still being finalised following an increase in the number of cadets in this period. “There has been a change, we will check again, but if I am not mistaken it is around 1,500, but we will try to verify again because there has been an addition to the number of students or cadets,” he added.

For comparison, during the Praspa ceremony on 23 July last year, President Prabowo inaugurated 2,000 junior officers. The composition last year consisted of 827 Army officers, 433 Navy officers, 293 Air Force officers, and 447 Police officers.

During the ceremony, the President is scheduled to personally pin the rank insignia on the best graduates who receive the Adhi Makayasa award. In the previous year, eight Adhi Makayasa recipients from the four branches received this honour directly from the Head of State. The Prasetya Perwira ceremony is a pivotal moment for cadets who have completed their education at military and police academies, officially conferring upon them the rank of Second Lieutenant for the TNI and Police Inspector Second Class for the Polri.
