President Prabowo to Donate 36 Head of Cattle for Eid al-Adha in Central Java, Each Weighing One Ton
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG – President Prabowo Subianto will donate 36 cattle, each weighing one ton, for Eid al-Adha sacrifices in 35 regencies/cities in the province of Central Java. This was revealed by the Head of the Central Java Agriculture and Livestock Office, Defransisco Dasilva Tavares, or Frans.
Frans stated that the availability of cattle and goats in Central Java is sufficient to meet the sacrificial needs for this year’s Eid al-Adha. According to the Central Java Agriculture and Livestock Office, the estimated need for cattle for this year’s sacrifice is 135,772. Meanwhile, the available stock of cattle is 172,172.
The estimated need for sacrificial goats this year is 336,096. Meanwhile, the available stock is 580,963. Frans said that the stock of buffalo and sheep in Central Java is also sufficient to meet the demand for sacrifices.
He added that, specifically for cattle, Central Java will also receive a donation of 36 cattle from President Prabowo Subianto. “The President will provide one head of cattle to each regency/city, with the qualification that each cow weighs at least one ton. There are already 36,” said Frans when interviewed on Friday (May 15, 2026).
“So, one head of cattle per regency/city plus one for the province. The plan is for the President to hand them over in Grobogan on May 27, 2026,” added Frans.
He explained that, in anticipation of Eid al-Adha, they are intensifying inspections of livestock, especially cattle. This is to ensure that the cattle are safe and not infected with Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).
“So, our approach is to visit cattle farmers, both small and large, to check. With this scheme, if there is a problem, we will handle it immediately. Therefore, we must be proactive in visiting them,” said Frans.
According to Frans, in anticipation of Eid al-Adha, FMD does pose a risk of spreading. This is because of the activity of bringing in and sending livestock across regions.
