Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto announced that he will deliver a special briefing to the Indonesian people in the near future to explain the current turbulent global conditions and the steps that the Indonesian nation must prepare.

During his agenda for the virtual inauguration of 218 bridges, the President addressed the escalating geopolitical tensions resulting from conflicts in the Middle East, which he believes could affect global economic stability and security.

“Because of the war in the Middle East we must be prepared to face difficulties. We have great strength, but I also want to be honest — I will provide a special briefing to the entire Indonesian nation in the near future,” he said, as seen from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel in Jakarta on Monday.

The President assessed that the current global situation is fraught with uncertainty. Competition and disputes between major world powers could potentially drag other nations into increasingly difficult situations.

“The entire world is experiencing shocks because of the war in the Middle East. Let us be honest — we must face difficulties,” the President stated.

“I have observed and studied the figures every day. We continue to discover new wealth. We will experience difficulties, and I will not hide this from my assessment. We will emerge from this crisis stronger, more prosperous, and more self-reliant,” he said.

President Prabowo also stressed the importance of strengthening national resilience, particularly in the food and energy sectors.

“We are very grateful for divine blessings. For years I have pursued food self-sufficiency. In terms of fuel prices, we are fortunate that we have nearly achieved energy self-sufficiency. We have already achieved rice self-sufficiency, but we will soon achieve our protein needs,” the President said.

Amid global uncertainty, the President believes that food security is a crucial guarantee to keep the Indonesian people safe, even as many countries face difficulties.

Additionally, the government continues to promote energy independence, including through the development of fuels based on domestic resources such as palm oil, cassava, maize, and sugarcane.

The President called on all elements of the nation to continue working hard, maintaining unity, and being grateful for the various blessings that Indonesia possesses.

“We must work hard, we must be united, we must be grateful,” he said.
