President Prabowo to Attend Ryamizard Ryacudu's Funeral at Kalibata National Heroes' Cemetery Tomorrow

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the military funeral of former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu tomorrow. The ceremony will take place at the National Heroes’ Cemetery (TMP) Kalibata in South Jakarta.

“The latest information is that, God willing, the President will attend,” said Presidential Staff Chief Dudung Abdurachman after visiting the condolence house in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (31 May 2026).

Dudung said Prabowo knew Ryamizard well, noting they were from the same military batch. “They were in the same military batch,” he added.

Dudung also expressed his condolences for the late Ryamizard, highlighting his distinguished military career. “He was also the one who implemented the return of the TNI to the barracks. He was a true soldier, a genuine professional warrior who never knew surrender, developing many aspects of military professionalism,” Dudung said.

He added that he felt a deep sense of loss for Ryamizard, often visiting him during his illness. “I feel his loss deeply and frequently visited him in hospital as we were very close,” he said.

Dudung also recalled Ryamizard’s tenure as Army Chief of Staff, when Dudung himself was a battalion commander in Aceh. “During his assignment, he gave me excellent guidance, particularly stressing that the people of Aceh were not our enemies. Therefore, the approach should be humanitarian—avoiding killing and such. That is what I held onto,” he said.
