President Prabowo to Attend Funeral of Try Sutrisno at Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the funeral procession of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno, who will be buried at Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery on Monday, 2 March 2026.
President Prabowo’s attendance was confirmed by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who stated that his office had been in communication regarding the event.
“He has been monitoring the situation, we have been in communication. God willing, he will attend,” said Prasetyo on Monday afternoon, as cited from Kompas TV.
He noted that Try was one of the nation’s finest sons who dedicated his entire life to serving the country.
“We certainly feel the loss deeply, as he was one of the nation’s finest sons who devoted his entire life to serving the nation and state,” Prasetyo said.
“May the family always be given strength and patience to accept God’s will,” he added.
Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD Gatot Subroto on Monday morning. His family stated that he had no specific medical conditions, but his health had deteriorated due to his advanced age of 90 years.
“It is due to his age; everything declines at that age. There was no specific serious illness, but rather a general decline in his physical capacity, such as his respiratory function,” said Try’s son Taufik Dwi Cahyono at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto on Monday, as cited from Kompas TV.
Taufik said that before his death, Try had been receiving treatment at RSPAD since 16 February 2026 after he suddenly lost his appetite.
“He was admitted on 16 February. So it started with a sudden loss of appetite, he was brought here, and his condition fluctuated, he was given medication and food,” Taufik said.
Taufik stated that the RSPAD and presidential medical teams had provided the best possible treatment to Try until his death on Monday morning.
