President Prabowo to Attend 18th BRICS Summit as Full Member
President Prabowo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia will attend the 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled to take place on 12-13 September 2026, in New Delhi, India.
President Prabowo arrived at the Air Force Station (AFS) Palam, New Delhi, on Friday, 11 September 2026, at 22:00 local time. Upon arrival at the airport, the President was welcomed by India’s Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, alongside the Chargé d’Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi, Yudho Sasongko, the Indonesian Defence Attaché in India, Brigadier General (Mar) Burhanudin, the Commander of AFS Palam, Brigadier General Rishabh Mittal, and the Additional Secretary (South) of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prashant Agrawal.
At the foot of the aircraft stairs, President Prabowo was also greeted by an honour guard and a performance of traditional Indian cultural dances.
President Prabowo’s presence at the 18th BRICS Summit as a full member is part of Indonesia’s strategy to strengthen its active role in multilateral cooperation. This participation reflects Indonesia’s commitment to fostering a more balanced and inclusive global economic order that provides greater space for developing nations.
During the 18th BRICS Summit hosted by India, member state leaders will discuss several strategic agendas regarding the strengthening of cooperation between developing countries. The meeting is also expected to drive concrete steps in enhancing collaboration within the sectors of food security, energy, development finance, and trade.
Previously, President Prabowo and a limited delegation departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Friday afternoon at 17:00 WIB. Accompanying the President on the flight to New Delhi were the Minister for Foreign Affairs Sugiono, the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
