President Prabowo to Appoint New Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes This Week

President Prabowo Subianto is set to appoint a new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) this week, following the resignation of Febrie Adriansyah, who was named a corruption suspect. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the Attorney General’s Office has submitted a letter proposing the head of the Asset Recovery Agency, Kuntadi, for the position. “God willing, this will be processed this week,” Prasetyo said at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. He added that the proposal requires acceleration and must be reviewed by a final assessment team before President Prabowo signs a presidential decree to formalise the appointment.

The Attorney General’s Office is now handling the corruption case involving former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah after the police transferred the investigation. The case relates to alleged corruption at PT Asabri, PT Krakatau Steel, and a coal supply scandal that caused power outages in Sumatra. A lawyer, Don Ritto, has also been named a suspect. Acting Jampidsus Rudi Margono stated that his office will soon begin examining Febrie Adriansyah following the handover of evidence and investigation files.

In a series of raids, police seized 74 kilograms of gold bullion and cash totalling approximately Rp 540 billion in rupiah and foreign currencies. The largest seizure occurred at a residence in Sentul, Bogor, where investigators also found US$4,767,300 and SGD 14,083,800. Additional cash and assets were confiscated from a cafe in Cipete, South Jakarta, and a money changer.
