President Prabowo: The People Do Not Need Convoluted Bureaucracy

President Prabowo Subianto has stressed that all state apparatus must serve the public to the best of their ability. The head of state asserted that the people do not need convoluted bureaucracy or leaders who fail to perform their duties properly. He made these remarks during the inauguration of IPDN praja at the IPDN campus in Jatinangor, Sumedang, on Wednesday (29/7). In his address, Prabowo stated that the graduating praja had chosen a path of service to the people, the nation, and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The President acknowledged that this chosen path is neither easy nor light. However, he emphasised that from the outset, civil servants are required to assist people facing difficulties. “Our people do not need convoluted bureaucracy. Our people do not need leaders who do not work to the best of their ability,” Prabowo said. He further explained that the honour of a state apparatus is not measured by their position, but by the extent of the benefits felt by the people. As servants, protectors, and guardians of society, they are required to work honestly, with discipline, without corruption, and to be present whenever the people need them. “And to prioritise the interests of the people above personal or group interests,” he said, advising that wherever they serve, the praja must remember they are the face and symbol of the state. Therefore, Prabowo urged the state apparatus to work as well as possible so that the people increasingly trust and love their country. “Because disappointing the people will damage trust in the state itself,” he said. The President also explained that Indonesia is a large country with the fourth largest population in the world and a land area equivalent to 27 European countries. This abundant natural wealth has made Indonesia a target for foreign powers for hundreds of years, who employed divide-and-rule politics across tribes, religions, races, ethnicities, and groups to gain control. To become a strong, successful, advanced, and independent nation that stands on its own feet without being dictated to by other nations, Indonesia requires a superior domestic government that is disciplined, free from corruption, loves the homeland, and prioritises the people’s interests. “With a clean government and integrity, history teaches that the country will succeed, the nation will prosper, and the people will be prosperous,” he said.
