President Prabowo Subianto Secures Rp575 Trillion in Investments from Japan and South Korea
President Prabowo Subianto has concluded a series of state visits to Japan and South Korea, returning to Indonesia on Wednesday (1 April 2026) evening. From these trips, Prabowo succeeded in securing investment commitments worth a total of Rp575 trillion, a significant achievement for Indonesia’s economic diplomacy.
The presidential aircraft carrying President Prabowo and his delegation landed at the TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma airbase in Jakarta at around 23:55 WIB. The head of state’s arrival was directly welcomed by several high-ranking officials, including Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency Muhammad Herindra.
According to a report from the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat as quoted by Kompas, his visits to the two Asian countries, which took place from 29 March to 1 April 2026, have strengthened Indonesia’s position as a strategic partner.
During his stay in Japan from 29-30 March 2026, President Prabowo held important meetings with Emperor Naruhito of Japan and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. In addition, he was active in the Indonesia-Japan business forum.
The results of this business forum consisted of several cooperation agreements, which if totalled amount to US$23.63 billion, or equivalent to approximately Rp401.71 trillion. This figure forms the initial foundation of the total investment commitments successfully brought home.
South Korean Investment Commitments
Continuing the visit to South Korea from 31 March to 1 April 2026, President Prabowo Subianto also recorded similar diplomatic successes. In that country, President Prabowo held meetings with President Lee Jae Myung, discussing the expansion of comprehensive partnerships between Indonesia and the Republic of Korea.
The visit to South Korea resulted in substantial investment commitments through the signing of 10 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between government institutions, as well as 17 MoUs between business actors from both countries. The total value of these agreements reaches US$10.268 billion, or approximately Rp174 trillion.
Total Investments and Government Expectations
Overall, the investment commitments obtained from Japan and South Korea reach the fantastic figure of Rp575 trillion. The Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat emphasised that this visit is proof of the success of economic diplomacy, as well as an effort to strengthen Indonesia’s position on the Asian stage.
