President Prabowo Subianto Launches Food Security Initiatives in East Java
President Prabowo Subianto conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for ten Indonesian National Police Food Security Warehouses and launched the operation of 166 Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) under the Indonesian National Police in Tuban Regency, East Java, on Saturday (May 16). This strategic initiative aims to strengthen national food security while fully supporting the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG).
During the inauguration, the President emphasized the importance of synergy between the government, military, and police in maintaining stability and the welfare of the people. “We are working hard to lead this country, protect our people, and safeguard all the wealth of our people,” said President Prabowo.
In the agenda, the Head of State inaugurated the construction of ten Indonesian National Police Food Security Warehouse units, type 654, designed to have a storage capacity of up to 1,000 tons per unit. These strategic storage facilities will be built in several provinces, including West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Banten, West Kalimantan, North Maluku, and two units each in South Sumatra and Southeast Sulawesi.
At the same time, the Indonesian National Police is also operating 166 SPPG units spread across various regional police jurisdictions. The operational distribution includes 39 units in the Banten Regional Police, 17 units in the North Sumatra Regional Police, 16 units in the Central Java Regional Police, 14 units in the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police, and 8 units managed directly by the MBG Task Force. The presence of these SPPGs is projected to be a center for fulfilling community nutritional needs to create a healthy and competitive generation.
The Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stated that the police are committed to taking an active role in providing food as a foundation for building a competitive generation. “Producing food and meals is continuing civilization,” said the Chief of Police, quoting the President’s message.
President Prabowo also expressed special appreciation to security personnel who work behind the scenes for the smooth implementation of national strategic programs. He emphasized that the task of public servants is to ensure that all processes of food distribution and nutritional fulfillment run safely, orderly, and smoothly to reach the people.
The construction of warehouses and the operation of SPPGs are expected to be the backbone of a more equitable national food distribution system and guarantee the availability of nutritious intake for communities in various corners of Indonesia. (Z-10)
