President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Paris, France, on Tuesday, 26 May (local time) to commence a state visit. Amid his foreign agenda, Prabowo is scheduled to perform Eid al-Adha prayers in Paris before official state engagements. The information was shared via an official Cabinet Secretariat Instagram post on Tuesday. The post stated Prabowo landed at Paris Orly Airport around 10:00 local time. “Upon arrival at Paris airport, the Head of State was received by French Labour Minister Jean-Pierre Farandou, an honour guard, and hundreds of Indonesian citizens at the hotel where he is staying, who had waited since morning for his arrival,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in his statement. The visit is part of Prabowo’s state visit to France, which was scheduled last year but underwent several reschedulings. Teddy noted the visit aims to strengthen strategic Indonesia-France relations, particularly given the complementary roles both nations play in global affairs. “Indonesia serves as a key gateway for Europe-Asia relations, while France is a crucial gateway for Asia, especially Southeast Asia, into Europe,” he added. Before official state engagements, Prabowo is set to perform Eid al-Adha prayers and meet Indonesian citizens at the Indonesian Embassy’s residence in Paris. Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah falls on Wednesday, 27 May. Previously, Deputy State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro stated Prabowo departed for France on Monday night for an overseas working visit. “President Prabowo left for France last night for an overseas working visit, so adjustments will be made as he will still be there on Wednesday,” Juri said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday. The government has also confirmed the distribution of 1,098 sacrificial cattle across all provinces, regencies, cities, and social and religious institutions in Indonesia.
