What does an economy based on Pancasila mean? First, a religious economy, a humane economy, and one that strengthens national unity.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stressed that Indonesia’s economic development must align with Pancasila values: religious, humanitarian, strengthening national unity, and pro-people.

In his speech at the 2026 Pancasila Day commemoration at the Pancasila Building in Jakarta on Monday, President Prabowo said economic development should not merely focus on statistical growth but must deliver tangible welfare for all Indonesians.

“What does an economy based on Pancasila mean? First, a religious economy, a humane economy, and one that strengthens national unity,” Prabowo stated.

He emphasised that the success of economic development should be measured by improved quality of life for the population, particularly the most vulnerable groups.

Every Indonesian child must have access to adequate nutrition to grow and develop optimally.

“Economic development must produce a better life for all Indonesians. Our children, the weakest, poorest, and most disadvantaged, must receive sufficient nutrition,” he explained.

President Prabowo added that economic development must also prioritise national interests over those of a select few.

Furthermore, economic development must provide decent livelihoods and income opportunities.

“The fate of our workers must be protected and supported. Our economy must also serve national interests and the people’s welfare,” Prabowo said.

President Prabowo affirmed that his current task is to transform the nation, especially in the economic sector, to truly align with Pancasila.
