President Prabowo Shares Lunch with Students of SRMP 17 Tabanan

Nervous smiles and palpable anticipation were visible on the faces of parents and students of Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 17 Tabanan, Bali, during lunchtime. President Prabowo Subianto sat amongst them, sharing the same meal menu.

A special moment occurred during the lunch when President Prabowo was seen tidying the uniform of Gede Fransiskus Fatubun, the student who led the lunch session and engaged in light conversation with the President. Shortly after, President Prabowo invited the children to begin the meal, stating, “Please, continue. Please eat,” according to a press release from the Ministry of Social Affairs on Sunday (7/6/2026).

Responding to the invitation, Frans led a solemn communal prayer before the meal commenced. The lunch with President Prabowo was characterised by warmth and a sense of family, as he was seen chatting with the parents and students seated around him.

Lunchtime at Sekolah Rakyat is part of the Free Nutritious Meal programme launched by President Prabowo. Within the Sekolah Rakyat system, children’s nutrition and growth are guaranteed as meals are served with appropriate nutritional portions. Every day, students receive three heavy meals and two snacks.

The Ministry of Social Affairs revealed that during the 11 months of the Sekolah Rakyat programme’s operation, students have frequently shown significant weight gain. Students who were previously underweight or malnourished now appear healthy and vigorous due to their fulfilled nutritional needs. Similarly, parents at SRMP 17 Tabanan expressed happiness that their children now appear much healthier and more energetic.
