President Prabowo Scheduled to Attend PENAS XVII Summit in Gorontalo
Gorontalo - The Chairman of the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen’s Week (PENAS) Committee, who also serves as Head of the Gorontalo Provincial Agriculture Office, stated that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the PENAS XVII summit in Gorontalo on Wednesday (24/6). “God willing, the President will attend the peak event tomorrow. Our preparations are currently in the final stage,” said the PENAS XVII Committee Chairman when met at the event location in Bone Bolango Regency on Tuesday. He said the committee continues to finalise various preparations, including the arrangement of the event site and cross-agency coordination ahead of the President’s visit. According to him, the President is scheduled to attend the PENAS XVII summit agenda at around 10:00 WITA at the David-Tony Sports Centre area in Gorontalo Regency. The committee estimates the number of participants and invited guests attending the peak event will reach 50,000 to 60,000 people. “To date, around 12 governors have confirmed their attendance. In addition, eight ministers are also scheduled to attend along with several heads of state institutions,” he said. He added that a number of other high-ranking state officials are also scheduled to attend the event, including the National Police Chief, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and the Chief of Staff of the Navy. As part of the preparations for the President’s visit, a joint force of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, National Police, and supporting elements held a VVIP Security Troop Deployment Parade for RI-1 in the courtyard of the Gorontalo Regent’s Office, involving approximately 2,300 personnel. The parade, led by the Operations Section Chief of the 133/Nani Wartabone Military Resort Command, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Hendra Mirza, was part of a readiness check for personnel, facilities and infrastructure, as well as the inter-agency coordination mechanism involved in securing the President’s visit. PENAS XVII is a gathering event for farmers and fishermen from various regions across Indonesia, which this year is centred in Gorontalo.
