President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the peak of the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen Contact Week (PENAS KTNA) to be held in Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province, on 24 June 2026. Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail stated on Friday that the information was obtained from a coordination meeting between the central committee, regional committee, and local government regarding preparations for PENAS XVII. “The central committee has conveyed that the opening of PENAS on 20 June will be conducted by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman. For the peak event on 24 June, the President is scheduled to attend,” Gusnar said. According to him, the local government continues to finalise various preparations ahead of the national event, which will bring together farmers, fishermen, agricultural extension workers, academics, business actors, and regional governments from across Indonesia. Gusnar said the President’s presence at the peak of PENAS XVII is expected to strengthen the central government’s attention to the development of the agriculture, fisheries, and food security sectors in Gorontalo. “We hope the President can attend because PENAS is a strategic national agenda that serves as a meeting ground for key players and business actors in the agriculture and fisheries sectors from all over Indonesia,” he said. PENAS Farmers and Fishermen XVII will take place from 20 to 25 June 2026 at the David-Tony Sports Arena complex in Limboto District, Gorontalo Regency. The committee has recorded that approximately 13,000 participants, consisting of farmers, fishermen, extension workers, regional heads, and representatives of related organisations and institutions, are scheduled to take part in the series of activities. In addition to being a forum for the exchange of agricultural knowledge and technology, PENAS XVII will also showcase various innovations, technology exhibitions, business meetings, and exhibitions of superior agricultural and fishery products from various regions in Indonesia.
