President Prabowo Scheduled to Attend Closing of NU's 2026 Munas and Konbes in Bangkalan
The Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) has confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the series of events for the 2026 National Conference of Religious Scholars (Munas) and Grand Conference (Konbes) of NU. The Head of State’s attendance is planned for the closing session, which will take place in Bangkalan, Madura.
PBNU Secretary General and Chairman of the Organising Committee for the 2026 Munas-Konbes NU, Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), stated that all technical preparations are being finalised. This highest forum below the Muktamar will be attended by the PBNU board and representatives of the Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Boards (PWNU) from across Indonesia.
‘Preparations have been ongoing. For the Munas-Konbes, God willing, the President will attend during the closing,’ said Gus Ipul during a press briefing in Kediri, East Java, on Saturday (20/6).
Gus Ipul explained that this year’s Munas-Konbes NU is being held at two historic locations in East Java. The opening ceremony is centred at the Al Falah Islamic Boarding School in Ploso Village, Mojo District, Kediri Regency.
Unlike the opening procession, which will be led internally by PBNU, the closing session will be held on a grand scale at STAI Syaichona Moh. Cholil in Bangkalan on Tuesday, 23 June 2026. It is at this location that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to deliver his address before the religious scholars and NU delegates.
As of Saturday (20/6) afternoon, the influx of participants from various regions in Indonesia was reported to have peaked in Kediri. Gus Ipul noted that delegates had begun arriving in stages since Friday (19/6).
‘Starting yesterday, participants have been arriving gradually. By this afternoon, God willing, all participants, both from PWNU and PBNU, will be present in Kediri,’ he added.
The Munas Alim Ulama and Konbes NU is a strategic forum that will discuss various religious issues (masail al-fighiyah) as well as current organisational and national issues before PBNU moves into the preparation phase for the upcoming Muktamar.
