President Prabowo reviews post-disaster recovery in Aceh Tamiang
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto directly inspected the post-disaster recovery in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, on Saturday, and stated that the handling progress has reached nearly 100 per cent, as all affected residents now occupy decent housing ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
“Alhamdulillah, there are no more tents; everyone has moved out 100 per cent. All have entered temporary or permanent housing. Electricity is also almost fully operational, with only five villages remaining across Aceh due to difficult terrain. All aid has been distributed to the people,” said President Prabowo after performing Eid al-Fitr prayers at Masjid Darussalam in the Temporary Housing (Huntara) area of Kebun Tanjung Seumantoh, Karang Baru Subdistrict, on Saturday.
During the visit, the President ensured that post-disaster handling not only focuses on relocating residents from evacuation tents but also includes fulfilling basic needs such as electricity, clean water, and the distribution of social assistance to affected communities.
This recovery is supported by PT Hutama Karya (Persero) along with several construction state-owned enterprises through the provision of Huntara areas built along the Banda Aceh–Medan cross route.
The temporary housing is designed as a self-sufficient environment, with each unit measuring 4.5 metres x 4.5 metres in accordance with standards from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
In addition to serving as residences, the Huntara areas are equipped with various supporting facilities, including sanitation, communal kitchens, washing areas, internet access, and worship facilities in the form of Masjid Darussalam, which became the centre of community activities during the Eid al-Fitr period.
In the basic services sector, Hutama Karya also operates the Rantau Water Treatment Installation (IPA), which can supply clean water at a capacity of 40 litres per second to meet community needs.
The company is also involved in rehabilitating connectivity infrastructure, including repairs to the Lawe Mengkudu Bridge and Penanggalan Bridge, as well as clearing wooden materials at several vital points to facilitate resident mobility and logistics distribution.
Acting Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, in an official statement on Saturday, said that all facilities in the Huntara area are functioning optimally to support the acceleration of community recovery.
“Our focus is to ensure that the people of Aceh Tamiang can celebrate this day of victory with a sense of safety and comfort. The Huntara we have built is equipped with electricity, clean water, and adequate internal road access,” said Hamdani.
President Prabowo also appreciated the cross-ministry, agency, and BUMN cooperation, which he deemed to play a significant role in accelerating recovery, so that the social and economic life of affected communities can quickly return to normal.
