President Prabowo Receives 2026 Hajj Evaluation Report in Hambalang

President Prabowo Subianto received a comprehensive report on the implementation of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage from the Hajj Oversight Team (Timwas) and the Ministry of Hajj at his private residence, Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, on Wednesday afternoon. The meeting focused on technical evaluations and service improvements for pilgrims in the future.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that the main agenda of the meeting was to hear a direct report from Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the Hajj Oversight Team, and officials from the Ministry of Hajj. “Today, the President fulfilled the request to report on our 2026 Hajj implementation,” Prasetyo stated at the main gate of Padepokan Garuda Yaksa.

Deputy Minister of Hajj Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak revealed that approximately 20 improvement points had been implemented during the 2026 Hajj season. He emphasised that President Prabowo is deeply committed to ensuring that the dream of Muslims to perform their worship is realised with the best possible service.

Several crucial notes evaluated included the mobilisation of pilgrims in the Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna) areas, as well as the health istitha’ah policy. Dahnil mentioned that the assignment pattern for officers in Armuzna would be improved to provide more intensive services.

Regarding health aspects, the government recorded a decrease in pilgrim mortality. For instance, the number of pilgrims from East Java who died in 2026 was recorded at 65, down from 104 in 2025. Nevertheless, health policies will be further tightened for the 2027 Hajj season. “Next year we will be more selective. For example, those with indications of dementia, kidney disease, or tuberculosis will be ensured they cannot depart for their own safety,” Dahnil asserted.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Hajj Mochamad Irfan Yusuf and several members of the Hajj Oversight Team who arrived at the location from 2.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. This evaluation marks the first year that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has directly managed the Hajj operation under President Prabowo’s administration.
