President Prabowo Ready to Face Resistance from Illegal Economic Actors
President Prabowo Subianto affirmed his readiness to confront resistance from groups engaged in illegal economic practices hindering national economic transformation. The statement was made during his role as Inspector of the Pancasila Birthday Commemoration Ceremony at the Pancasila Building in Jakarta on Monday, June 1.
In his address, President Prabowo identified significant challenges arising from those profiting from corruption and smuggling, stating such illegal acts not only damage the economic order but also weaken the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
“We will face obstacles, challenges, and possibly resistance from groups that thrive on corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities. They are individuals lacking love for the homeland,” President Prabowo stressed.
He emphasised that as a great nation, Indonesia must courageously make difficult decisions to defend the people’s interests, rejecting short-term conveniences that compromise future generations’ prospects.
To break the chain of national wealth leakage, the government is implementing an economic transformation grounded in Pancasila. President Prabowo is confident that consistent application of Pancasila in economic matters will prevent Indonesia from division, noting that recent decades’ growth models remain uneven, with natural resource value primarily benefiting foreign entities.
The 81st Pancasila Birthday Commemoration Ceremony’s theme was “Pancasila as the Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace”. The event was attended by national figures including former President Megawati Soekarnoputri, former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, former Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, and current Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
