President Prabowo Subianto has officially increased performance allowances (tukin) for Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers and employees within the Ministry of Defence (Kemhan). This policy ends an eight-year wait for adjustments since 2018. The increase is stipulated in two newly signed regulations: Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 42 of 2026 concerning Performance Allowances for Employees within the TNI and Perpres Number 43 of 2026 concerning Performance Allowances for Employees within the Ministry of Defence. These regulations replace Perpres Numbers 102 and 104 of 2018. Head of the Defence Information Bureau at the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, confirmed receipt of the copies of the regulations. He stated that the adjustment is a form of government appreciation for bureaucratic reform achievements and the increasing workload. “Since 2018, the Ministry of Defence and the TNI have not received an adjustment to the performance allowance index. Meanwhile, the duties and responsibilities have continued to increase, ranging from maintaining sovereignty to strengthening food security and disaster management,” Rico said in Jakarta on Thursday (30/7/2026). The new performance allowance amounts are set based on job class. For soldiers in the lowest class (Class 1), the allowance now reaches Rp2.5 million, an increase of approximately Rp600,000 from the previous regulation which set it at Rp1.9 million. This adjustment is expected to serve as a stimulus for all personnel within the Ministry of Defence and the TNI to enhance professionalism, accountability, and the quality of service to the nation.
