President Prabowo Praises DPR's Legislative Achievements and DPD's Aspiration Gathering

President Prabowo Subianto has expressed high appreciation for the performance of legislative institutions in strengthening regulatory functions and absorbing regional aspirations. The Head of State conveyed this during his State Address at the 2026 Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8).

In his speech, the President emphasised that the success of national development is not the work of the presidency alone, but the result of harmonious collaboration among all elements of the constitutional system.

“The DPR, together with the government, has completed and enacted 13 draft laws up to July 2026,” the President said.

Prabowo underlined that nation-building is the result of joint work between the central government, regional governments, all state institutions, and elements of society. Within this framework, the MPR was deemed consistent in carrying out its role as the House of Nationality through strengthening constitutional literacy and safeguarding the four pillars of nationhood.

“Democracy must not stop at electoral procedures. Democracy must fulfil the basic rights of the people and adhere to all articles of our Constitution,” he said.

In particular, the President drew attention to one of the monumental legislative products successfully passed by the DPR together with the government, namely Law Number 2 of 2026 on the Protection of Domestic Workers (PPRT). This regulation is seen as a historic milestone in the recognition of domestic workers’ rights.

According to Prabowo, the law represents a fundamental recognition that every form of work has dignity and every worker is entitled to equal legal protection.

On the other hand, the Head of State highlighted the effectiveness of the DPD, which successfully gathered up to 10,883 public aspirations from 38 provinces across Indonesia. All of this input has been brought into dialogue with the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) as substance for the preparation of the 2027 Government Work Plan (RKP).

“The DPD is also continuing to advocate for the Archipelagic Regions Bill, which has now entered tripartite discussion with the DPR and the government. God willing, it will be completed,” Prabowo said.

The 2026 Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD served as the main stage for the delivery of state institutions’ performance reports ahead of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, which carries the theme “A Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.”
