The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has praised the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) for its substantial contribution in distributing humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine. The appreciation was conveyed during a gathering of 121 kiai, ulama, and leaders of Islamic organisations at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta. Prabowo became visibly moved, shedding tears as he spoke of Baznas’s pivotal role in delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

A moment of solemnity settled over the room as the President watched a video documenting the aid shipments received by Palestinians. With a trembling voice, Prabowo affirmed that Baznas has become a representation of the care of the Indonesian nation and the Muslim community in Indonesia.

“Amazing, thank you Baznas. You represent Indonesia, you represent Indonesian Muslims. Your aid is deeply felt by the Palestinian people,” Prabowo said, wiping his eyes with a small towel at the podium.

The President said the government would provide full support for the aid distribution, including air transport facilities such as the Hercules aircraft and air drops to ensure the logistics reach their destinations safely.

“Many of the items deployed were channelled through Baznas. I thank you on behalf of the government and the Indonesian nation for the aid you, Baznas, have coordinated,” he added.

The emotional moment drew heartfelt applause from the scholars and Islamic leaders in attendance. The gathering served not only as a convivial meeting but also as a moment to reinforce Indonesia’s humanitarian commitment and solidarity amid the Gaza crisis.

Baznas’ success in mobilising and distributing aid accurately across recipients was regarded by the President as an extraordinary achievement in bearing the trust of Indonesian Muslims for world peace.

During Ramadan 1447 AH, Baznas also rolled out aid programmes for Palestine, including food packages, hot meals, health services, access to clean water, clothing, displacement and classroom tents for children in conflict-affected areas. (Z-2)

Five ambulances will be stationed at the Baznas Health House in West Java, East Jakarta, Bulukumba, Jepara, Pelalawan, Karanganyar, and Palu.

Social activities to assist flood victims in Aceh were conducted during Ramadan.
