President Prabowo Subianto performed the Eid al-Adha prayer for 1447 Hijriah at Indonesia House in Paris, France. He prayed in congregation with Indonesian citizens (WNIs) and the diaspora residing in France.

According to the Presidential Secretariat’s Bureau of Press, Media, and Information on Thursday (27 May 2026), accompanied by takbir chants, President Prabowo arrived at Indonesia House at approximately 8:40 local time. He immediately joined the congregation to recite takbir before proceeding with the Eid al-Adha prayers.

The prayer was conducted solemnly with the participation of Indonesian citizens and diaspora who had gathered at Indonesia House since morning. President Prabowo was not accompanied by his son Didit Hediprasetyo, Investment Minister and Head of BPI Danantara Rosan Roeslani, or Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

The Eid al-Adha prayer was led by Imam and Khatib Fakhruddin Arrozi, a graduate of the International Islamic University Islamabad in Pakistan and currently a lecturer at Muhammadiyah University of Lamongan.

In his sermon, Fakhruddin stated that Eid al-Adha is a festival with both divine and humanitarian dimensions. He reminded attendees that the sacrificial ritual symbolises obedience to Allah but also encourages sharing, preserving Islamic identity, strengthening family bonds, and unity, particularly for Muslims living as diaspora abroad.

“We are not commanded to sacrifice our children as Prophet Ibrahim did, but rather to sacrifice our egos in obedience to Allah’s commands,” Fakhruddin said in his sermon.

Following the Eid prayer, President Prabowo mingled with Indonesian citizens and diaspora attendees. In a warm atmosphere, he greeted and shook hands with the congregation, followed by a communal meal.

Prabowo was in France for an official state visit with President Emmanuel Macron. He arrived at Orly Airport in Paris, France, on Tuesday, 26 June at around 10:00 local time. The arrival marked the commencement of his state visit.

“This arrival marks the commencement of President Prabowo’s state visit to France, which had been scheduled since last year and underwent several reschedulings,” said Teddy.

President Prabowo’s state visit is expected to further strengthen strategic ties between Indonesia and France. The bilateral relationship is seen as complementary in global affairs.

“Indonesia currently has numerous super-strategic collaborations with France, and this state visit aims to bolster Indonesia’s position in Europe, particularly in France,” he added.
