President Prabowo pays tribute at funeral of former Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu

President Prabowo Subianto attended the funeral ceremony and send-off of Ryamizard Ryacudu at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026. The head of state arrived at the location around 8:25 AM WIB to pay his final respects to the deceased. Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defence, President Prabowo proceeded directly to the Hall of Silence. In a solemn atmosphere, he stood briefly before the coffin and offered prayers as a tribute to the late official’s service to the nation. Earlier, Ryamizard Ryacudu’s remains arrived at the Ministry of Defence at 7:35 AM WIB and were laid in state in front of the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Hall. The funeral ceremony was presided over by Deputy Defence Minister Donny Ermawan as the parade commander. Ryamizard Ryacudu passed away on Sunday, 31 May 2026. During his lifetime, he was a prominent national military figure who served as Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD) from 2002 to 2005 and as Indonesia’s Defence Minister from 2014 to 2019. Following the funeral ceremony, the remains were transported to the National Heroes Cemetery in Kalibata for a military burial. Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin led the burial ceremony as parade commander. President Prabowo’s presence in the proceedings signified the nation’s respect for Ryamizard Ryacudu’s contributions to Indonesia.
