JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto prayed before the coffin of Ryamizard Ryacudu, which was laid at the Ministry of Defence office in Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026.

Prabowo attended the funeral ceremony and farewell for the former Defence Minister, retired General Ryamizard Ryacudu at the venue.

Prabowo arrived in a white Maung Garuda vehicle, greeted by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin upon exiting.

He then proceeded to the Hall of Silence to pay his final respects to Ryamizard.

In a solemn atmosphere, Prabowo stood briefly before the coffin and offered prayers in honour of Ryamizard’s service to the nation.

The funeral ceremony was led by Deputy Defence Minister Donny Ermawan as the reviewing officer.

Ryamizard passed away on Sunday, 31 May 2026, in the afternoon.

Throughout his career, Ryamizard was recognised as a national military figure who dedicated himself to the country, serving as Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (2002-2005) and Defence Minister from 2014 to 2019.

Following the funeral ceremony, his remains will be transported from the Ministry of Defence to the National Hero Cemetery in Kalibata, Jakarta.

The farewell forms part of the final honours before the military burial.

The military funeral at the National Hero Cemetery in Kalibata is scheduled to be led by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin as the reviewing officer.

The military burial is a state tribute to a soldier and statesman who dedicated his life to Indonesia.
