President Prabowo Subianto paid his final respects to General (Ret) Ryamizard Ryacudu during the funeral ceremony and departure at the Ministry of Defence office in Jakarta on Monday.

According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat, President Prabowo arrived at the Ministry of Defence around 8.25am WIB and proceeded directly to the Hening Room to pay his last respects to the late general.

The head of state stood briefly before the coffin and prayed as a gesture of respect for the deceased’s service to the nation.

General (Ret) Ryamizard Ryacudu passed away on Sunday 31 May. A prominent national military figure, he served as Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD) from 2002 to 2005 and as Minister of Defence from 2014 to 2019.

Following the funeral ceremony, Ryamizard’s body will be transported from the Ministry of Defence to Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta. The departure is part of the final honours before a military burial.

The military funeral is a national tribute to a soldier and statesman who dedicated his life to Indonesia.

President Prabowo’s presence at the ceremony underscores the state’s respect for General (Ret) Ryamizard Ryacudu’s contributions to the nation.
