President Prabowo Outlines 121 Transformative Policies, Judicial Pay Rises, and Free Meal Programme in State Address

President Prabowo Subianto recently delivered a number of important agendas in his address before the MPR, DPR, and DPD. The speech highlighted the direction of the government, the performance of state institutions, judicial welfare, education, and the sustainability of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. A number of points delivered also demonstrated the government’s focus on reform, human resource development, and programmes aimed directly at the public.

One of the matters conveyed by Prabowo was the implementation of 121 transformative policies by the government. These policies are part of the government’s efforts to make structural changes while accelerating the execution of various priority programmes. Prabowo described the process of running the government as a heavy task. He even touched upon the condition of his aides who must work hard to carry out the various government agendas. The statement illustrated the magnitude of the government’s workload in running various programmes while simultaneously carrying out improvements in a number of sectors.

In his speech, Prabowo also emphasised a number of principles that serve as guidelines in running the government. In essence, state policy must remain grounded in the 1945 Constitution, the interests of the people, and the interests of future generations. This principle shows that the government wants to base development not only on short-term needs but also to consider its impact on Indonesia’s future. This direction is in line with the 2025–2029 national development agenda, which places human resource development, legal and bureaucratic reform, and economic equality as part of the government’s priorities.

The legal sector was also a focus for Prabowo. The President had previously announced a welfare increase for judges with varying amounts based on rank. The highest increase reached 280 per cent, particularly for judges at the most junior level. According to Prabowo, this policy is necessary to improve welfare while maintaining the honour and independence of judges. The government also plans to prioritise the construction of housing for judges and a number of court officials. Prabowo also stated that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Indonesia has received information that the income of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Indonesia is now above that of the Chief Justice of Singapore, while the average income of junior Indonesian judges is said to have surpassed that of junior Malaysian judges.
