President Prabowo Orders Agriculture and Forestry Ministers to Prepare Tree Seeds for National Greening

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has asked the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Forestry to prepare quality tree seedlings for distribution to all cities and regencies as part of efforts to create a clean, beautiful, and sustainable environment.

In his remarks at the mass handover of 62,000 subsidised housing units (KPR Rumah Subsidi) in Batang, Central Java, on Thursday, President Prabowo emphasised that national development must not only focus on downstreaming and food security, but must also be accompanied by efforts to safeguard environmental quality.

“If the number of trees has already decreased significantly, we will plant hundreds of millions of trees. Minister of Agriculture, I am asking you, and the Minister of Forestry, to set up nurseries. I need good tree seedlings for all cities and regencies,” President Prabowo said, as monitored via the Presidential Secretariat broadcast in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to President Prabowo, the decline in tree cover in various regions must be met with a massive tree-planting movement.

The President also stressed that residential development is not enough merely to provide houses; it must be accompanied by green and comfortable environmental arrangements.

In addition to greening efforts, President Prabowo asked the entire government apparatus, including the TNI, to be actively involved in environmental management.

The Head of State asked the TNI Commander to check the availability of heavy equipment produced by PT Pindad (Persero), such as excavators, so that it can be distributed to regencies in need.

According to President Prabowo, the provision of tree seedlings, heavy equipment, and the involvement of all stakeholders are important steps towards realising greener, cleaner, and more comfortable cities and regencies as part of sustainable development.
