President Prabowo Meets Donald Trump to Discuss Strategic Cooperation

President Prabowo Subianto made a working visit to Washington DC, United States. The Head of State and a limited entourage took off from the TNI AU Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on Monday, 16 February 2026.

The Presidential Secretariat mentioned that during this visit, President Prabowo was accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia and the Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya.

President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with United States President Donald Trump to discuss strengthening the relationship between Indonesia and the United States, as well as strategic cooperation in various fields. This visit is part of Indonesia’s active diplomatic efforts to strengthen its national position amid the global geopolitical dynamics.

Before departing, Prabowo held a limited meeting with several ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (15/2/2026). It was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming as well as the Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, and the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

“The meeting discussed updates on the Indonesia-America negotiations, and it was mentioned that the President is scheduled to be in the United States on the 19th. Around that date, the signing of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) is planned to take place,” Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Haryo Limanseto said in Hambalang, Sunday, 15 February 2026.

The President also reminded that every economic policy should provide real benefits and be immediately felt by the Indonesian people. The focus of the policy is not only on formal agreements but also on job creation, increasing industrial added value, and the direct impact on the welfare of the people.

In addition to the trade agenda, the visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to the United States also includes participation in the Board of Peace Summit or the Gaza Peace Council on 19 February 2026. The government views this momentum as a strategic step to strengthen Indonesia’s diplomacy on a global level while also opening up new cooperation opportunities.

Spokesperson Haryo expressed the Government’s optimism regarding the outcome of the agreement. He also added that the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, had already departed for the United States to make preparations and welcome the arrival of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
