President Prabowo Leads State Funeral of Sixth Vice-President Try Sutrisno at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery

Jakarta – Sixth Vice-President of the Republic of Indonesia Try Sutrisno was laid to rest at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta through a state funeral ceremony on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The funeral procession was led directly by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto in his capacity as ceremony inspector.

Try Sutrisno’s remains arrived at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery at approximately 1:18 pm West Indonesia Time, following the official transfer from his family to the state at the Grand Mosque of Sunda Kelapa in Central Jakarta.

Try Sutrisno’s coffin, draped in the Indonesian red and white flag, was carried by several members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to his final resting place.

“Funeral ceremony report ready to commence,” said the Ceremony Commander to President Prabowo at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery.

“Proceed,” replied Prabowo.

The funeral process began with a reading of a brief biography of the late Try Sutrisno and a ceremonial roll call.

“May the path of service he has undertaken serve as an example for us all, and may his soul find the best place beside Almighty God,” said Prabowo.

Subsequently, Try Sutrisno’s coffin was lowered into the grave with military honours.

The funeral was attended by Vice-President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and tenth and twelfth Vice-Presidents Jusuf Kalla (JK), and eleventh Vice-President Boediono also attended the funeral of the late Try Sutrisno.
