President Prabowo: Leaders Who Lie to the People Commit a Sin

President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that leaders who lie to the people are sinful and betray the interests of the nation. The statement was made during the launch of the Mandatory B50 Biodiesel Programme at a rest area in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday, when discussing the government’s achievements in realising food self-sufficiency. “A government that lies to its people is sinful. A leader who lies to the people is sinful. A leader who is not faithful to the national interest above all else is a traitor,” Prabowo said. According to Prabowo, there are still parties who underestimate the importance of food self-sufficiency and accuse the government of not conveying the actual conditions to the public. The President stressed that the government must not lie to the people, including regarding the achievement of food self-sufficiency, which he claims has been successfully realised. “Alhamdulillah, we have proven that we are able to secure and produce food for our people. Alhamdulillah, we have achieved food self-sufficiency. From a four-year target, we have succeeded in one year. Many parties underestimated the importance of food self-sufficiency,” he said. Prabowo also stated that even before his inauguration, he had emphasised to his core team and advisors the importance of achieving food and energy self-sufficiency, including reducing dependency on imported food and fuel. Beyond food and energy, Prabowo cited water availability as a primary factor determining a nation’s survival. He noted that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) continues to carry out well-drilling programmes in water-scarce areas, with approximately 30,000 drilling points completed this year alone. “The TNI continues to search for water and drill in difficult areas. The TNI Commander has reported that this year alone we have drilled 30,000 wells, and we continue to address the problems we face,” he said.
