President Prabowo Launches Indonesia Planting Movement for National Food Self-Sufficiency
Jakarta – On Wednesday (23/4/2025), in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, President Prabowo Subianto announced that a concrete step had been taken with the launch of the Indonesia Planting Movement (Gerakan Indonesia Menanam/Gerina) — a commitment to involve all levels of society in achieving national food self-sufficiency.
The President stated that Gerina is not merely symbolic but a collective planting movement. "This is not just a symbol, but the beginning of a collective planting movement that we will promote across Indonesia on a sustainable basis," he said.
He expressed hope that through Gerina, the spirit of planting would flourish in the heart of every citizen. "This spirit is the foundation for a strong nation, a nation capable of standing on its own feet in terms of food. This is our endeavour to ensure food security for our children and grandchildren in the future," he said.
"I am very happy to be here among the farmers and people of Banyuasin to carry out this mass planting," he added.
