President Prabowo Subianto has explicitly invited Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian delegation to visit Indonesia. He noted that he has visited Russia four times since assuming the presidency of the Republic of Indonesia on 20 October 2024.

Previously, Prabowo has visited the Kremlin in Moscow twice and Saint Petersburg, Putin’s hometown, once. According to him, his fourth visit to Russia is a vital component in strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Russia.

“This marks my second visit to Russia in 2026. In fact, this is the fifth time I have met with President Putin since becoming the President of Indonesia,” stated Prabowo during his speech at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), Vladivostok, on Thursday (3/9/2026) local time.

He also promised to welcome Putin in Jakarta with great hospitality, noting that this sentiment extends to the official Russian government delegation. “I hope to reciprocate the hospitality that Russia has shown me, and to welcome President Putin and all of you to Indonesia,” said Prabowo.
