President Prabowo invites Germany to play active role in maintaining global stability
President Steinmeier and I also agreed that all conflicts must be resolved through negotiation. And we cooperate in the field of diplomacy to enhance and ensure global peace and stability,” said President Prabowo in a speech while receiving a visit from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday.
Prabowo emphasised that strengthening and sustaining the partnership between Indonesia and Germany is now a top priority for the government. “Ladies and gentlemen, I firmly believe that Germany must play a more active and more important role because we need a good partnership with Germany and with Europe,” the President stated.
The momentum of this meeting in Jakarta also serves as an initial agenda in welcoming the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Germany bilateral relations in 2027. Beyond global peace issues, Indonesia is also encouraging substantial progress on the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Indonesia-EU CEPA) trade deal. The Indonesian government hopes Germany can continue to play an active role in finalising the internal agreement process in Europe so that it can soon deliver tangible benefits for the business community.
