President Prabowo Subianto has invited Germany to expand investment in various strategic sectors in Indonesia, including the development of critical minerals and rare earths, which are essential components in the global technology industry and energy transition. This was conveyed during a joint press statement with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Merdeka Palace on Monday. According to President Prabowo, both countries have significant opportunities to deepen investment partnerships in future-oriented sectors that support sustainable economic growth. “We also invite Germany to participate in the critical minerals and rare earths supply chain, as well as in our infrastructure development,” said President Prabowo. President Prabowo explained that investment opportunities are wide open in the fields of energy transition, industrial downstreaming, and the development of the electric vehicle industry, which is currently a government focus. Additionally, the Indonesian government is encouraging cooperation in the development of the semiconductor industry to strengthen national technology manufacturing capacity. President Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia wants to involve strategic partners such as Germany in building high value-added natural resource-based industrial supply chains. “Indonesia also invites German parties to expand investment in important sectors in Indonesia,” said President Prabowo. President Prabowo assessed that Germany’s involvement in these sectors could strengthen Indonesia’s efforts to accelerate economic transformation, increase the added value of natural resources, and support targets for clean energy development and high-tech industry.
