President Prabowo Invites Eight Special Guests to MPR Annual Session on 14 August
President Prabowo Subianto has specifically invited eight guests from various community elements to attend the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD, scheduled for Friday, 14 August 2026, at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.
House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani revealed that the eight special guests include students and members of the public who are beneficiaries of various strategic government programmes. “The President has eight invited guests he wishes to attend, including students and others. These eight individuals will be present at the event on 14 August. They are special invitees who are beneficiaries of the President’s programmes and have felt the benefits,” Puan stated at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.
Puan explained that the total number of invitations prepared by the committee reached nearly 1,200 people. In addition to the President’s special guests, the annual session will also be attended by VIP officials, including cabinet ministers, coordinating ministers, agency heads, and ambassadors from friendly nations.
Puan detailed that the entire state event agenda on Friday, 14 August 2026, will be divided into two main sessions. The first session, comprising the MPR Annual Session and the DPR-DPD Joint Session, is scheduled to run from 08:30 WIB to 11:00 WIB. Following this, the proceedings will be adjourned to allow for Friday prayers. The second session will resume at 14:30 WIB with a DPR Plenary Meeting to hear the President’s speech on the Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN) for the 2027 fiscal year and its Financial Note.
“Of course, we hope that during the presentation of the 2027 RAPBN, we will hear the government’s priority programmes that benefit the nation and state. Our hope is that everything proceeds well and smoothly,” Puan explained.
Puan clarified that the scheduling of this year’s Annual Session on 14 August differs from the previous custom of holding it on 16 August. She emphasised that the schedule was adjusted in accordance with working day regulations. She noted that since 16 August 2026 falls on a Sunday, the session was brought forward to the nearest working day. “This is not a postponement, but rather it is in accordance with the rules to hold it on a working day. The annual session and the presentation of the RAPBN are customarily not held on Saturdays and Sundays,” Puan said.
