President Prabowo Instructs Public to Choose Logo for Indonesia's 81st Independence Day

President Prabowo Subianto has instructed his staff, including Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya and Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro, to involve the public in determining the official logo for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. Consequently, the government has launched an official website for the 81st Independence Day logo as a channel for the public to choose one of five logo options that have passed a series of selections and curation by the Ministry of Creative Economy together with the Indonesian Graphic Design Association (ADGI). “Usually the top five are narrowed down to three, then the President chooses. But this time, thank God, the President wants all five to be chosen by the public. So, this is a good thing and can involve public participation in the logo selection,” said Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya during a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon. Teuku Riefky explained that the five curated logo choices for public selection resulted from a selection of 124 entries submitted to the ADGI competition. ADGI representative David Irianto, who also attended the press conference, explained that the works came from both ADGI members and non-members. “The initial process was an open call, where we opened it to all graphic designers in Indonesia,” said David. After the submission period ended and selection was carried out, the works that made it through curation entered a closed pitching stage. In that process, five designers presented their works to government representatives from the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Ministry of the State Secretariat, and the Government Communication Agency. Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat Juri Ardiantoro explained that members of the public who wish to vote for the 81st Independence Day logo can directly visit the official logo website. “The logo selection period runs from today (24/6) until 28 June 2026,” said Juri. The five logos displayed on the main page are: a design by David Wirawan P from Surakarta, Central Java, with the concept “8 Hopes, 1 Goal”; a design by Fajar Novario from Padang, West Sumatra, with the concept “Collective, Synergy, Acceleration”; a design by Kanda Putra from Denpasar, Bali, with the concept “Connected Humanity”; a design by Rizkiawan from Malang, East Java, with the concept “Empowered, Equal, Synergised Together”; and a design by Tiffany Djohan from Batam, Riau Islands, with the concept “Democracy and Independence”. “Each work presents a creative and unique interpretation of the 81st Independence Day theme. All these designs are based on an understanding of the theme, which is a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia,” said Juri. During the same press conference, Juri also announced that the 81st Independence Day Commemoration Committee has prepared 300 prizes for those who vote. “One hundred are invitations to attend the Seconds of the Proclamation Commemoration Ceremony, another 100 are souvenirs typically received by invited ceremony participants which will be sent to the selected individuals, and we are also providing 100 educational grants for selected members of the public. So, there are approximately 300 prizes as incentives for those actively involved or participating in the 81st logo selection,” said Juri Ardiantoro.
