President Prabowo: Indonesia on the Correct Path, Non-Aligned
President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed that Indonesia has long maintained a correct foreign policy course, namely non-alignment and respect for all nations. This is consistent with the principles of free and active foreign policy and the spirit of the non-aligned movement.
“Our nation is on the correct path, the path of non-alignment, non-bloc, we respect all nations, that is Indonesia,” said President Prabowo.
The statement was made when the President officially inaugurated 218 bridges across various regions virtually, through a YouTube broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Prabowo emphasised that this spirit of mutual respect is Indonesia’s strength in maintaining stability and harmony amid societal diversity. According to him, respecting all powers and nations in the world also enables Indonesia to maintain peaceful conditions, even as the global geopolitical situation becomes increasingly uncertain.
“Unity in diversity domestically, but also internationally we respect all nations, all races, all ethnic groups. This is what makes Indonesia enjoy peaceful conditions,” said the President.
On the same occasion, Prabowo touched upon the global situation marked by various conflicts, including war in Europe, particularly Ukraine, and escalating tensions in the Middle East region. He emphasised that what happens in one region can affect global conditions broadly.
“Some time ago, we realised there is war in Europe, in Ukraine. Now, almost the entire Middle East is affected, although we are far away, what happens in one region will have an impact,” he said.
Beyond encouraging all parties to exercise restraint, Indonesia is also pressing for tensions to be immediately reduced and that negotiation steps be pursued through dialogue.
War is too costly for state budgets. Meanwhile, according to him, the internal situation in the United States is not going well and requires support.
