President Prabowo Inaugurates Regional Roads and Attends NU Conference in East Java

President Prabowo Subianto conducted a marathon working visit to East Java Province on Tuesday (23/06). During this one-day tour, the Head of State combined an agenda of strengthening national infrastructure with attendance at a strategic religious forum on Madura Island.

According to information from the Presidential Press Bureau (BPMI Setpres), President Prabowo departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, using the Presidential Aircraft at approximately 09:00 WIB. Upon arriving in East Java, the first destination visited was Sampang Regency.

In Sampang Regency, the President was scheduled to inaugurate regional road projects covering a total length of 1,151 kilometres. This project is a realisation of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads (IJD), which aims to improve connectivity in various remote areas of Indonesia.

This development is expected to serve as a driver for the local economy by facilitating logistics distribution and community accessibility between regions. The government emphasised that strengthening regional road infrastructure is key to reducing national logistics costs.

Following the agenda in Sampang, President Prabowo continued his journey to Bangkalan Regency. There, the Head of State attended the closing of the National Assembly of Ulama and the Grand Conference (Konbes) of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) 2026, centred at IAI Syaichona Mohammad Cholil.

The President’s presence in this forum—the second highest in NU after the Muktamar—underscores the importance of synergy between the government and religious scholars in maintaining national stability and formulating the nation’s future development direction.

This working visit demonstrates the government’s commitment to equitable development while maintaining close ties with religious figures as pillars of national unity.
