President Prabowo Inaugurates 13 Downstream Projects, Danantara Becomes Economic Engine
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Indonesia is accelerating its national economic transformation through the groundbreaking of 13 National Downstream Projects Phase II valued at Rp 116 trillion, which were officially inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto in Cilacap on Wednesday (29/4/2026). This inauguration serves as a crucial milestone in strengthening downstreaming across strategic sectors while affirming Indonesia’s advanced position in transforming the role of global sovereign wealth funds (SWF). Through the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara), Indonesia is no longer positioning its SWF as a passive investment instrument but as a strategic engine directly integrated with industrialisation policies and the creation of added value domestically. During the inauguration, President Prabowo Subianto emphasised that the direction of downstreaming policies forms the primary foundation for the national economic revival. “Downstreaming is the only way for us to become more prosperous,” he stated. Meanwhile, the CEO of Danantara Indonesia, who also serves as Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Rosan Roeslani, revealed that the management of state assets is now directed as a catalyst for national economic transformation. “We will carry this out as the beginning of a major leap for Indonesia as a nation that is not only rich in natural resources but also sovereign in its processing, superior in its production, and prosperous in its outcomes,” he said. At the global level, the landscape of state wealth management is also undergoing a shift. Many countries are beginning to adopt the SWF model not only as an investment instrument but as a strategic tool to promote downstreaming and increase domestic added value, as Danantara Indonesia has done.
