President Prabowo Hosts Three Former Thai PMs, Including Thaksin, at Danantara

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, accompanied by Danantara’s top executives, received three former Thai prime ministers on Thursday (9/7).

The three former Thai PMs were Thaksin Shinawatra (in office 2001–2006), Yingluck Shinawatra (2011–2014), and Paetongtarn Shinawatra (2024–2025). Yingluck is Thaksin’s younger sister, while Paetongtarn is his daughter.

The meeting took place at the Danantara building in Central Jakarta. Among the Danantara executives present were Group CEO Rosan Roeslani, COO Dony Oskaria, and CIO Pandu Sjahrir.

“The meeting proceeded in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the close friendship that has long been established,” according to a post on the official Instagram account of the Cabinet Secretariat (Setkab) on Thursday evening.

In the caption, Setkab’s Instagram account wrote: “Thaksin Shinawatra, who currently serves as a member of Danantara’s Advisory Council, offered a number of suggestions and exchanged views with President Prabowo and Danantara’s leadership.”

The discussion covered various opportunities to strengthen investment, asset management strategies, and the development of a national economy oriented towards long-term growth.

Setkab’s Instagram account described the occasion as part of the Indonesian government’s close communication with world leaders and figures.

“Through close communication with world leaders and figures, the Indonesian government continues to strengthen networks of friendship while opening space for the exchange of ideas and experience, as part of efforts to expand international cooperation and consolidate Indonesia’s position amid ever-evolving global dynamics,” it said.

The previous evening, on Wednesday (8/7), Thaksin, together with Yingluck and Paetongtarn, visited Prabowo’s private residence on Kertanegara Street, South Jakarta. The courtesy call by Thaksin and his two relatives was also shared on Setkab’s Instagram account.
