President Prabowo Hosts BRIN Researchers at Palace for First-Ever Research Showcase
President Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with 150 researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. This meeting marked the first time researchers from across Indonesia gathered to discuss and showcase their research and innovation results to Prabowo.
“Your Excellency the President, it is respectfully reported that today, Thursday, 6 August 2026, more than 150 researchers from all over Indonesia have attended the Merdeka Palace for the first time. Furthermore, it is also the first time that strategic research and innovation results produced directly by the researchers have been brought and exhibited to be shown directly to the President,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in his introduction on Thursday (6/8/2026).
Meanwhile, in his report, Head of BRIN Arif Satria expressed his highest appreciation and gratitude to Prabowo for inviting the researchers to come directly to the Palace. This opportunity, according to him, is an honour and a source of encouragement for researchers to continue innovating.
“In addition, this activity reflects the President’s strong commitment that research and innovation are important foundations in realising an advanced, independent and competitive Indonesia towards Indonesia Emas 2045,” said Arif.
Prabowo conveyed that the purpose of the invitation was to see first-hand and gain an overview of the research and innovation results that BRIN has achieved. Prabowo appreciated the research and innovation results that have been produced.
“Thank you for coming to the Palace, and I hope that perhaps I can also come to visit your campuses. I once visited the former LIPI campus, if I am not mistaken, in Cibinong, and in several other places,” he said.
In his briefing, Prabowo emphasised that mastery of science and technology is one of the key factors in determining a nation’s progress. According to him, countries that are able to develop and master these two fields will advance rapidly.
“The key is science and technology. This is a fact and reality; from the mastery of science and technology, education is of course the foundation, the most critical, most crucial foundation,” he continued.
