President Prabowo Holds Plenary Cabinet Meeting on Development Programmes
President Prabowo Subianto convened a plenary cabinet session at the Presidential Palace on Monday, 20 July 2026.
Based on Tempo’s monitoring, those seen attending included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan; Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, also known as AHY; Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra; Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago; and Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus.
Also present were Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti; Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto; Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar; Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai; Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto; and Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman.
A number of deputy ministers were also seen arriving at the Palace, including Deputy Home Affairs Minister Ribka Haluk; Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Stella Christie; Deputy Social Affairs Minister Agus Jabo Priyono; Deputy Manpower Minister Afriansyah Noor; and Deputy Public Works Minister Diana Kusumastuti.
Also in attendance were the President’s Special Advisor on Security, Public Order and Police Reform Ahmad Dofiri, and the President’s Special Advisor on Communications Hasan Nasbi.
Hasan Nasbi said today’s plenary session would begin at 15:00 Western Indonesia Time. “Most likely the President will give directions on accelerating development programmes and his flagship programmes,” Hasan said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday.
He also asked the media to wait for details of the discussions once the session was under way.
“I think everything will be discussed and addressed by the President. But we’ll see the details during the plenary session, because I certainly don’t understand the details myself,” Hasan said.
President Prabowo last held a plenary cabinet session on Friday, 13 March 2026. All members of the Red-and-White Cabinet — ministers, deputy ministers, heads of agencies and special presidential advisors — attended that large meeting.
That cabinet session discussed the government’s preparedness ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
On that occasion, Prabowo expressed his desire for austerity measures to face the potential crisis arising from the war between the United States and Israel against Iran. He cited other countries that had already tightened their belts by cutting officials’ salaries.
He said Pakistan had imposed austerity because it regarded the Middle East crisis as equivalent to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“They even cut the salaries of cabinet members and members of parliament, and all these salary savings were collected to help the most vulnerable groups,” Prabowo said during the cabinet session at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
Beyond that, Prabowo also revealed during that agenda that he regularly receives intelligence reports about observers who dislike his administration. Prabowo claimed these critics were funded by parties opposed to those in power. “Before, I was outside the government; now I am the president. So every day I receive intelligence reports,” he said.
