President Prabowo Holds National Nuzulul Quran Commemoration at Jakarta Palace

Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto held a state-level Nuzulul Quran commemoration for the year 1447 H/2026 M at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The Head of State delivered remarks at the event marking the anniversary of the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad through Archangel Gabriel. The ceremony began with a report from the Minister of Religion, Nasaruddin Umar, to President Prabowo, who noted that the state-level event was attended by 278 participants.

The proceedings continued with reflections and prayers delivered by religious scholar and Quranic exegete Quraish Shihab. In his remarks, Shihab explained that the Quran, from a linguistic perspective, means a perfect recitation. He demonstrated the Quran’s perfection in various ways, including the establishment of rules for its recitation that gave rise to the discipline of tajweed. The scripture, revealed to Prophet Muhammad, is recited by both those who understand its meaning and those who do not. Shihab also offered prayers for President Prabowo to lead the nation with wisdom.

President Prabowo then delivered his remarks, stating that Nuzulul Quran is an opportunity for each person to understand and reflect upon the teachings of the Quran. He expressed his appreciation for Shihab’s wisdom on justice, as well as his reflections on the destiny of leaders trusted by the nation and its people.

“I am increasingly aware that leadership is a destiny and power emanates from the Almighty, and power is granted as a mandate to defend truth, justice, and honesty. Power is a responsibility to protect and bring welfare and justice to all the people one leads,” Prabowo stated.
